Hubei's actual use of foreign capital expands 73.6 pct in Jan.-Apr.

  Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Hubei Province, in actual use, expanded 73.6 percent to 1.34 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months of this year, local commercial department said on June 9, 2022.

  The expansion was 47.5 percentage points higher than national average, ranking7th in the country.

  In Jan.-Apr. period, the province saw contract value of signed projects double to 2,628.34 billion yuan. The number of projects worth more than 100 million yuan came to 3,347, a year-on-year increase of 92.7 percent, and projects worth more than 10 billion yuan amounted to 50. 13 ten-billion-yuan projects landed in Wuhan, while 7 projects of the same level were signed to Xiangyang and Yichang.

  Official data showed that 2,233 projects of manufacturing industry, 2,548 projects of "51020" modern industry, 45 projects of new-generation information technology industry, 149 projects of automobile manufacturing industry, 125 projects of modern chemical and energy industries, 107 projects of big health, 382 projects of modern agricultural product processing industry were brought into the province in the same period.

  In addition, number of export-oriented projects reached 559, including 476 relating to foreign trade and 83 relating to foreign investment.

  Hubei has completed 43.1 percent of its annual target for actual utilization of foreign capital in the four months. Economic and technological development zones of national level and free trade zone in the province have actually used 780 million U.S. dollars of foreign capital, accounting for 58.5 percent of the province's total.

  Specifically, the province’s nine national economic development zones actually used 520 million U.S. dollars of foreign capital, achieving 74.2 percent of annual target. Wuhan area of Hubei  FTZ actually used 260million U.S. dollars of foreign capital, an increase of more than 2times. Wuhan’s actual use of foreign capital jumped to 990 million U.S. dollars, a proportion of 74.1 percent of the province’s total.
