The launch ceremony of big health and biotechnology industrial base was held on May 8, at the Hubei East Lake Science City, East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China).

  The base, covering 8,000 mu, is divided into a core area of innovative  medicine research and development, an area of big health and biotechnology industry, and an area of international frontier biotechnology.

  On the basis of existing industrial foundation of the Biolake, the base is committed to building an innovative medicine industry cluster with global influence. By 2030, the base is expected to witness a total industrial output value of related companies to exceed 100 billion yuan, 30 top academicians and experts in the field to be introduced, 20 listed companies to be fostered and 30 first-class new medicines to go public.
