2012 COCPDC to be held in Wuhan

The 12th Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China (COCPDC) is slated for June 27 to 29 in Wuhan, capital of Hubei, with parallel sessions scheduled for June 30 to July 1 in Xiangyang

The 2012 COCPDC will put at top of the agenda issues contributive to the “Rise of Central China” strategy, including talent introduction, investment attraction and hi-tech city construction.

Focused on bio-medicine, IT photoelectron, environmental protection and other emerging strategic industries, the conference aims to provide a platform for exchanges and cooperation on talents, technologies, economies and trade through various events, including: Wuhan Forum, Forum on Overseas High-level Talents and the Development of Hi-Tech City, Presentation & Promotion of National Development Zones in Hubei, Special Session on Environmental Protection, Special Session on Bio-Medicine, Special Session on Wuhan-Chicago City Exchange, Silicon Valley & Optics Valley Forum with A Speicial Session on IT Photoelectron, the 6th International Symposium on Overseas Talents and Development in China, the 3rd Tian Changlin Forum with A Special Promotion of China Technology Industrial Park, parallel sessions at Xiangyang, etc.

By now, over 700 representatives from more than 20 countries and districts overseas have applied for the conference, with a good 1000 overseas participants to be expected. Professor Ding Zhaozhong, the famous Chinese scientist and a Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, will also be present along with over 100 chiefs from professional expat societies. At home, groups from more than 20 provinces and cities have applied, adding 1500 more domestic representatives to the total participants.

The organizing committee have collected, arranged and announced 2039 projects, among which 53 are from abroad and 1536 are in Hubei. Currently, a barrage of expats, Chinese entrepreneurs and professionals have come to Hubei for the early work in projects, over 50 of which have applied for the “3551 Talent Project” in Wuhan East Lake National Innovation Demonstration Zone, where the construction of hi-tech enterprises are put on the table.

It’s learned that the 2011 COCPDC saw a good 1300 agreement and contracts signed on talent introduction as well as technological and investment exchanges and cooperation, 910 of which now have been completed. Talents were introduced, including 53 leading brains in national industry and 87 great minds under the “Thousand Talents Project”.
