Wuhan to establish first inland free trade zone
2015-10-21
Recently, the general plans for a free trade zone in Wuhan were examined and approved by experts from the Ministry of Commerces Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation. The research for these plans, which took nearly two years to prepare, helped Wuhan move one step closer toward achieving its goal of establishing Chinas first inland free trade zone.

The plan for the free trade zone suggests using Wuhans advantages and basic conditions to promote openness along the Yangtze River and innovation-driven development. With technological advancement and institutional and cooperative innovation serving as new development engines, the free trade zone will function as an important economic center in Central China. It will also serve as a leading inland area for economic development and reform and a model area for the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
